DJ Shortkutz
DJ Shortkutz has been an aspiring Hip-Hop DJ in the music industry for 12 years. Already in his early promising career, he has performed at the most well known clubs throughout the tri-state area. He started out performing at various local clubs in Westchester County, then decided it was time to enter some of NYC'S most well known megaclubs. Some of his accolades include Club Exit, Sound Factory, Crobar, Providence, Suede, Social Club, Show, Rock Candy, Vudu Lounge and the list goes on. At 25 years of age Kut is a very energetic and talented DJ known for tearing up dance floors and hyping the crowd wherever he spins. Shortkutz has even made guest appearances in videos for local rap groups along with DJing private parties for the likes of Montell Williams.
Born Joseph Anthony Donato in Port Chester, New York, Shortkutz was born creatively ambitious and artistic. Kut first inched his way onto the Hip-Hop scene booking school dances in the area to house parties to high school DJ battles, where he was crowned Westchester's Number 1 DJ in 1998. He then took his talent with him to college where he became the primary DJ for Manhattanville College (Purchase, New York) where he premiered on the schools radio station. While creating a buzz during his college career Kut had traveled to other colleges performing throughout the tri-state area including Sacred Heart and Fairfield Universities. This has allowed Kut to achieve a great deal of success in the industry, he has now built a fan-base that consistently follows him to see his performances. In December of 2006 Kutz made his international debut by traveling to Capetown, South Africa to perform. This would be the first time that he DJed off of American soil. Kutz is expected back there in April of 2007 for a much larger tour as where he will spin a number of different clubs across the city of Capetown.
Shortkutz not only is a DJ, but also a barber for the past 10 years. After college he attended the American Barber Institute where he received his master barber license. After working in a few shops throughout Westchester he has decided to open a salon of his own named "Shortkutz" on 446 Fifth Avenue in Pelham, New York. This is Westchester's first full service Barber Spa where men can go to get their haircut, a manicure, massage, and even their eybrows waxed all in one visit. A barber by day and DJ by night Kutz has been very successful in his career up to date. Kutz has far exceeded the expectations of his peers, critics and fans at such an early age. His love for and careful nurturing of his immense talents has enabled him to represent the music industry along with his barber spa. This DJ/Barber has been molded to achieve nothing less than a successful career in whatever he chooses to embark on!!!
